TM 55-6695-220-13&P The tester's capabilities in terms of temperature range and types of thermocouples that can be handled are summarized in Table 2-1. Table 2-1.  Temperature Ranges For Temperature Selector Switch Copper-Constantan Thermocouple Sensor -50º  to +350ºC Iron-Constantan Thermocouple Sensor -70°  to +350ºC Chromel-Alumel Thermocouple Sensor     0°  to 1200ºC b. Prior to checking the indicator for temperature errors over its range of operation, the indicator's reading is made to agree with the tester's reference output by manipulating the zero-adjust on the test unit.  At these reference temperatures, one for each colored section, (See Table 2-2) the tester's reference output is precisely zero millivolts. Table 2-2.  Thermocouple Material And Corresponding Reference Settings For Temperature Selector Switch THERMOCOUPLE MATERIAL TEMPERATURE SELECTOR SWITCH SECTOR POSITION Copper-Constantan Red 20°C Ref. Iron-Constantan Yellow 20°C Ref. Chromel-Alumel Green     0°C Ref.* * NOTE The  indicator  for  a  chromel-alumel  thermocouple  is  adjusted  with  the  zero-adjust  at  a  mid range   point   700°C   for   0°    to   1000ºC   thermocouple   and   900ºC   for   a   0°    to   1200ºC thermocouple  to  produce  a  0°  error.    The  proper  procedure  should  be  obtained  from  the indicator manual. 2-2
